David Mathews

Senior Associate at McGill and Lyon Practice Transitions

“I find deep fulfillment in helping dentists define what a successful transaction looks like from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective. Because no two transitions are the same, I value the opportunity to pursue a path tailored to each client’s objectives and to bring clarity to one of the most important decisions of their professional life”

About David

David is a Senior Associate in M&A Advisory at McGill and Lyon Practice Transitions, where he provides transitions advisory services to dentists nationwide. He works with clients from the earliest stages of discovery through closing, helping them define success not only in financial terms, but also in the broader qualitative context of their professional objectives. David begins each engagement by understanding why a client is considering a transition and what a successful outcome truly looks like. That discovery process helps shape the market approach, including whether the opportunity should be positioned toward the traditional doctor-buyer market or the DSO market. David also understands that a transition should never be evaluated in isolation. He helps ensure that the opportunity on the table aligns with the client’s broader objectives and works in coordination with the client’s other advisors when needed. David also helps clients develop a well-supported understanding of value as a foundation for the transition process. From there, he supports the technical and strategic execution of the engagement through valuation, active marketing, buyer dialogue, review of letters of intent, and negotiation of deal structure.
